1st September 2011 - Successful Summer Project


Our volunteers have now returned from a very successful 2011 Summer Project, have a look at the report.

9th March 2011 - Golden Futures now a Registered Charity

The UK Charity Commission have now given Golden Futures the status of a fully registered charity with the registration number 1140771. Previously our status was a charitable trust, but our fund-raising success last year meant we had to go through the process of full registration. We hope our new status will open up some new sources of funding.

10th June 2010 - Thanks to Golden Futures Nottingham

A team of dedicated volunteers working at the University of Nottingham have worked together to raise £500 for Golden Futures, and are going to Cambodia this summer to work at NFC. Thanks to all of them!

6th March 2010 - NFC Survivor Challenge!

As part of the Golden Futures Support Project, we provided funding for Attitude Centre for Education to come into NFC and conduct one of their famous Survivor Challenges. Go here to read Attitude's report on the visit, or click here to read Golden Future's report.

28th September 2009 - Golden Futures Web-shop Opens!

If you'd like to donate to Golden Futures, but don't have much money to spare, why not make your everyday purchases through www.buy.at/goldenfutures. Many well-known brands are represented, including mobile networks, broadband providers, and booksellers. Each one will give to Golden Futures when you buy, and best of all, it doesn't cost you a penny - just a few clicks of your mouse to go through www.buy.at/goldenfutures to get to their website!

4th September 2009 - New reports!

The report from our Summer 2009 visit is now available to download from the documents page. You can also find a copy of the 2008 Annual report, as well as other useful documents we have produced.

21st August 2009 - Khmer language section.

To complement the many Khmer language resources we have created over the last month, we have launched a Khmer language section of our website. To access it, click on the Cambodian flag on the home page. To read it, you will need Khmer Unicode fonts installed. Most modern OSes include this by default, but you can also find them to download at www.khmeros.info. Watch this space for the report on the Summer 2009 visit!

28th February 2009 - Update

While the website has been quiet, lots of things have been going on behind the scenes with Golden Futures. We have received two major donations - £3300 from the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust, and £1000 from Students Supporting Street Kids (SSSK). We also have been busy making preparations for 2009's work trip, where we will be again sending a representative to Cambodia to make sure things are working well on the ground.

16th Sep 2008 - Summer 2008 Visit

Over summer 2008, Golden Futures sent a representative to Cambodia. The trip was a great success, but notable achievements include arranging for the NFC children to open bank accounts, supervising the first Golden Futures long-term loan payment and setting up the short-term loan system. 2nd Jul 2008 - Half-Marathon and Mobile Phone Amnesty

Thanks go out to Jonny Lewington and Ben Illingworth, who raised money for Golden Futures through a half-marathon! Golden Futures is also launching a Mobile Phone Amnesty, collecting your old, unwanted mobiles, which once recycled can be converted to cash for the children! 26th Jun 2008 - Update!

Lots of stuff has been going on behind the scenes at Golden Futures, mostly preparing documents and procedures for the first round of loan applications. We've also had some successfull fundraising, receiving £500 from the Demo Project. Thank you! Finally - the website is now golden, to fit in with the range of publicity posters made for us by SCA in Nottingham.

14th Feb 2008 - Official Registration

Golden Futures has been officially recognised as a charitable body, Ref no. XT8057. This means we are, among others things, able to claim Gift Aid on all eligible donations!

21st Jan 2008 - Bring and Buy Sale

£45 was raised in a Bring and Buy sale to support Golden Futures. Many thanks go out to everyone involved!

16th Jan 2008 - Demo Night

The date has been set for the Golden Futures Demo Night, it will take place at Blueprint, in Nottingham, on the 25th January. Entry is £5, and doors open at 9. Come along!

29th Dec 2007 - Cambodia Quiz

£40 was raised in a Cambodia-themed quiz, where particpants paid £1 for a sheet, and had the chance to win prizes including a pot of delicious Cambodian jam, and a Gecko themed mobile!

20th Dec 2007 - Golden Futures Trustee Meeting

The Golden Futures Trustees met to discuss the NFC Micro finance project, and future fundraising opportunities. The decision was made to look into supporting NFC in providing careers advice to the children as a complement to the micro finance loans.

30th Nov 2007 - Golden Futures Demo Night

Demo Project, a charity fundraising club night run by students from Nottingham University, have agreed to have Golden Futures as their international charity for one of the nights. It's currently set for late January, and should be great fun!
